When The LORD Says Go and You Say No

Recently I was engaged in a conversation or two with someone who was interested in continuing to work with an organization that had poor leadership. With all this individual's efforts, they tried convincing the leadership of their specific skillset and value to the organization. This individual wanted to argue the case to anyone who would listen. ""Magnify my strengths and not my weakness," this person pleaded. Equip me with assistance and watch everything flourish. Support the program and the mission you say you want," this individual lamented!!! This person went from one individual in leadership to another seeking someone who would hear the case. But each person turned out to be of no help and no avail. Perhaps this institution might be on the brink of facing the LORD's judgement. No one knows. But what I know is this: When there are no righteous people who can hear your plea, there might be angels of the LORD in route. The leadership was not interested in...

John 17:15 And A Talk With My Sister

My sister has been going through the valley of the shadow of nonsense with her boss. She sings the blues, but also follows it with "Give Thanks in All Things for This is the WILL of GOD concerning you in Christ Jesus." It is hard to hear your loved one voice the pain points of a season. Often the loved one is reaching for understanding or striving to solve the problem or trying to convince the un-convincible that their misguided notions are all misplaced mistrusts.   Finding myself where I am along the path in my walk with Christ, GOD and the Holy Spirit, it is hard for me to endure these seasons my friends or loved ones are in. In a recent conversation with my sister I turned once again to the WORD of GOD. " John 17 -15 Just as I didn't join the world's ways. I'm not asking that you take them out of the world  But that you guard them from the Evil One.  16 They are no more defined by the world Than I am defined by the world. 17 Make them holy - consecrated...

Figs and God's People Israel

Image
The fig fruit develops as a hollow, fleshy structure called the  syconium  that is lined internally with numerous  unisexual  flowers. The tiny flowers bloom inside this cup-like structure. Although commonly called a fruit, the syconium is botanically an  infructescence , a type of  multiple fruit . The small fig flowers and later small single-seeded (true) fruits line its interior surface. A small opening or  ostiole , visible on the middle of the fruit, is a narrow passage that allows the  specialized fig wasp ,  Blastophaga psenes  to enter the inflorescence and pollinate the flowers, after which each fertilized  ovule  (one per flower, in its  ovary ) develops into a seed. At maturity, these 'seeds' (actually single-seeded fruits) line the inside of each fig.  See  Ficus: Fig fruit and reproduction system . The edible mature  syconium  stem develops into a fleshy  false fruit  bearing the ...

Joseph Had No Friends But He Had Favor

Joseph had no friends. We learn that Joseph was his father's favorite son. He was the son of Rebecca, the woman Jacob loved. But even with 7 brothers and a sister, we are not told that he was close to any of his siblings except perhaps his little brother Benjamin. Otherwise he had no favor with his siblings. We learn that David had a friend in Jonathan; Paul had friends in Pricilla and Aquila, Timothy and others, and Jesus had friendships with both men and women alike. Even without the bonds of friendship, Joseph was able to make his way with the favor of God and God's blessings. Joseph was thrown in a ditch and there was no friend to rescued him. He was lifted from the ditch by his brothers, but yet, sold into slavery. No friends were mention that he obtained while enslaved. He was in Potifer's house, but other than a lustful desire for him by a married woman, he had no friends. Even as he was jailed for a crime he did not commit, he acquired no friends. Though, he might h...

Paying Taxes or Avoiding Taxes

When I worked for a Christian University in Southern California my department head suggested that I get my license as a minister. He said it was an easy process and told me that I would get tax breaks. I was yet a babe in Christ, but what he said disturbed me. I thought to myself, "If my motive in becoming a licensed minister was so I could get a tax break, then something ain't right with my walk. To hell if he gone get me in trouble with the LORD." I had not absorbed a lot of the bible up to that point, but surely the fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom was something that stuck out all the time for me back then. As I read and learned more about Jesus and his walk, I ran across scripture to guide and affirm my thoughts in Christ. Matthew Chapter 17 (The Temple Tax) 24 After they had arrived in Capernaum, the collectors of the two-drachma tax came to Peter and asked, “Does your Teacher pay the two drachmas?” 25“Yes,” he answered. When Peter entered the house, Jesus...

How Long is Too Long?

How long is too long? For Simeon and Anna it was a lifetime of waiting. With what they witnessed, it was the confirmation and the manifestation of what they believed was to happen. What if it takes a lifetime for your beliefs to manifest? Will the Holy Ghost come upon you and open your mouth to confess Jesus is Lord? Will you ask God to give you leave of life at that moment? What exactly are you waiting on? Luke Chapter 2 verses 25-38 reads: 25 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him. 26 And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ. 27 And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, 28 Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said, 29 Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in pea...

Grace For Purpose: Order My Steps

Image
Today I set out to walk for a few miles before my job interview. I have been seeking the Lord for the last few days. As I was walking, I said to myself, "Lord I am trying to hear from you, but there is nothing. I am getting not one word." At that point during my walk, the Lord lead me to take out my cellphone and pull up a Grace For Purpose video. I didn't want to walk nor was I very interested in listening to Grace For Purpose. Usually when I awake I listen to the day's video, but this morning I did not until I was lead. Below is the video posted for June 2, 2021. This video was right on time. It was an affirmation of everything I had thought this morning. I am thankful to the Most High God for His provisions. I pray this video blesses you this day as much as it blessed me. In Jesus' name!
