In The Beginning God Created Male and Female

Often I have had the opportunity to hear pastors express how Eve was tempted by the serpent and ate of

the fruit of the forbidden tree. Many pastors offer a disingenuous reading of the text. Women I have met

in the past also share their contempt for Eve when there are complaints to be laid out about the plight of

women in the USA and abroad. Chapter 1 verses 27-29 reads:

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them. 28 And God blessed them, and God said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth, and subdue it: and have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over every living thing that moveth upon the earth. 29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
Note: GOD created both male and female. He formed Adam from dust but created male and female. To the male and female God gave every herb bearing seed and every tree in which the fruit of a tree yielding seed.

However, when one reads Genesis Chapter 2 verses 15-19 one can learn that GOD clearly places Adam in

the Garden, God clearly instructs and Commands Adam not to eat of the Tree Of The Knowledge of God

and Evil, and then gives him help meets that God himself formed out of the ground and then gave Adam

the task of calling the names of everything brought forth. God gave specifics.

15 And the Lord God took the man, and put him into the garden of Eden to dress it and to keep it. 16 And the Lord God commanded the man, saying, Of every tree of the garden thou mayest freely eat: 17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die. 18 And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him. 19 And out of the ground the Lord God formed every beast of the field, and every fowl of the air; and brought them unto Adam to see what he would call them: and whatsoever Adam called every living creature, that was the name thereof.

At this point Eve had not been taken from the rib of Adam. Eve has not received direct instruction from
God and never in the bible is a reading of her being given instructions from God. God gave instructions to  Adam. Chapter 2 verses 21-25 reads:

21 And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam, and he slept: and he took one of his ribs, and closed up the flesh instead thereof; 22 And the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man, made he a woman, and brought her unto the man. 23 And Adam said, This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man. 24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be one flesh. 25 And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.
Now Eve was with Adam when the serpent speaks with her. Even though the task given Adam was to name and called the animals and tend to the garden, he does not turn to that serpent which he was given dominion over and address it. He also never corrects Eve. He does correct Eve or the serpent with the exact instructions from GOD, that correction being...: (17 But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it.) Instead, Adam, being right there because the word says he was right there, allows disobedience to take place on all sides of his body without uttering a word. The word in Chapter 3 verses 1-6 reads:

1 Now the serpent was more subtle than any beast of the field which the Lord God had made. And he said unto the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? And the woman said unto the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil. And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree to be desired to make one wise, she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat.

The sin was in Adam's harkening to the voice of the serpent. The sin was Adam's and Adam's alone. Because of his sin, everyone else paid a price. Not unlike King David, because of his sin, Uriah, Bathsheba and everyone in the kingdom including David paid the price.

22 And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever: 23 Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken.

The problem with having the ability to know good and evil is that it was never meant for mankind to have this knowledge. With this knowledge we assume we have the ability to judge and be judges. Therefore, we have spent eons sitting on a throne that does not belong to us. This is why Adam and Eve were put out of the garden and prevented from eating from the Fruit of the Tree of Life. For them there would have been no death and they would have torn each other and the garden to shreds for eternity. This is exactly what we as people do today outside the realm of Eden.

Without Jesus Christ, without the Knowledge of Jesus Christ, there is only judgement and strife for mankind. What the Knowledge of Jesus gives is an antidote to the knowledge of good and evil. With the antidote received and believed in, one can now experience a second birth that leads to eternal life.

Choose today if you want the antidote or you want to rule and cast judgement. Choose today if you want to be reconciled to God or go your own way. We have all sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God. Every country, every nation, every people, and every person has fallen short. Choose to not spend one more day in a battle that is not yours, in judgements that are not yours to make. Know that we do not suffer alone. We have a Savior. Choose to seek God and His righteousness, I pray, in Jesus' Name. Amen!
